Body Feminization

What Is Body Feminization?

Body Feminization involves a combination of liposuction and fat grafting to enlarge the hips and buttocks. Fatty tissue can be removed from any part of the body to slim down or sculpt those areas and placed in your buttocks and hips to give you the feminine curves you were born to have.

What Should I Know About Body Feminization?

Body Contouring is not a surgical weight loss treatment. It is designed to do exactly what it says—body contouring.

The amount of fatty tissue that survives and the amount of fatty tissue that is grafted lends to the overall result. Dr. Rumer utilizes a state-of-the-art liposuction system which harvests fat in a much less traumatic fashion than conventional liposuction. This system also prevents the fat from being exposed to air, which will destroy or damage the fat cells. With Dr. Rumer’s technique, approximately 90 to 95 percent of the fatty tissue that is transferred into the hips and buttocks survives in comparison to the 60 to 80 percent survival rate associated with conventional procedures.

Immediately after surgery, you will notice that your buttocks are larger. This enlargement is the result of two components: the fatty component that will live in its new environment producing the permanent change; and edema or swelling that occurs in an area of surgery. The edema will resolve over three to six weeks, leaving you with the final result. Post-operative weight gain will make your buttocks larger and weight loss will make your buttocks smaller after the procedure. Occasionally a patient will need two grafting sessions in order to obtain the fullness they desire.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

Once under general anesthesia, you will undergo liposuction. Liposuctioning of abdomen, the area below the buttocks, and the lower portion of the back are an essential part of the operation. Other areas may be liposuctioned as well, adding to the pool of fat that can be grafted back into your buttocks and hips. Liposuctioning the lower back, abdomen and the area below the buttocks reduces these areas, thus helping to accentuate the buttocks and hips. Placing the liposuctioned fat into the buttocks and hips increases their size, giving you the curviness you are looking for. MTF Body Contouring is an outpatient procedure, so you will go home the same day.

How Long Is Recovery and When Can I Resume My Normal Activities?

You will be placed in a compression garment immediately after your surgery. You must wear this garment 24 hours/day for the next week. The first day is moderately uncomfortable. On day 2 to 5, tenderness rapidly resolves. You are able to move around the more freely without assistance. From day 1 to 14, you must remain off your buttocks to help the transferred fatty tissue survive. Your first follow up appointment is one week after surgery. At that visit your garment will be removed, and you will be able to shower. You will continue to wear your garment 24/7 except when showering. You should be able to return to work after the first week provided your responsibilities are not too strenuous. No strenuous activity for four to six weeks. Over your lifetime, continue with diet, exercise and healthy lifestyle changes in order to retain the benefits from your surgery.
