Body Masculinization

What Is Body Masculinization?

Body Masculinization / FTM Body Contouring involves a couple of different procedures to masculinize your body. These surgeries can be performed at the same time or separately depending on your anatomy and your goals.

The procedures involved are the abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) if you have too much extra skin, and liposuction if you are looking to contour any areas to make them look more masculine. You can combine this with buttock fat grafting. Say goodbye to that flat and flabby butt and end up with nice tight grapefruit-shaped cheeks that will definitely be squeezable.

What Should I Know About Body Masculinization?

Not everyone is a candidate for these procedures. Body contouring is not a surgical weight loss treatment, they are sculpting procedures, so it is very important that you be near your ideal weight before surgery so you will maximize your outcome.

Each of these procedures has a small number of potential complications, which should be avoided if you follow your pre-operative and post-operative instructions. During your consultation, Dr. Rumer will perform a full evaluation and together you can discuss which procedures will help you to achieve the masculine physique have always wanted.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

FTM Body Contouring is done under general anesthesia and performed on an outpatient basis. The length of time varies depending on the specific procedure you are having performed. Once surgery is finished, you will be fitted with a compression garment that is specific to your procedure. If you have had a tummy tuck, you will have drains to care for that will be removed at your first post-op visit. If you have had liposuction with no fat grafting, you will just have a compression garment. If you have had buttock fat grafting, you will have a special butt-less garment and you will be asked to not sit directly on the grafted area.

How Long Is Recovery and When Can I Resume My Normal Activities?

After FTM Body Contouring, you will be asked to rest and relax the first week. You will be given pain medication, but the soreness gets better every day. Your garment will be removed at the first post-op and you can shower. For those who have had tummy tucks, the drains will be removed and you can shower. Your compression garment will be warn 24/7 except when showering for a total of four weeks from your procedure. You should be able to return to work after the first week provided your responsibilities do not involve strenuous activity. You can resume full exercise activities at four to six weeks.
