WHAT IS A BROW LIFT?
A Brow Lift is a surgical procedure that tightens or alters the forehead and eyebrow regions to smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyebrows, and improve frown lines. Also called a forehead lift, a brow lift targets excess skin and sagging muscles to correct drooping brows and horizontal forehead lines. It can also lift upper eyelids.
WHAT SHOULD I KNOW?
Advances in brow lift surgery make it possible to perform the procedure through a variety of approaches, including endoscopy. Brow lift surgery is individualized for each patient. The surgical incisions used may vary with the technique selected by Dr. Rumer in order to meet your needs. Brow lifts are often done in combination with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) to rejuvenate the upper face region, or with a facelift to provide a smoother look overall.
WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?
The endoscopic lift uses a tiny microscope and surgical instruments inserted through short incisions made in the scalp. Skin and underlying tissues are lifted and held in place with dissolvable sutures. The procedure generally takes an hour.
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY AND WHEN CAN I RESUME MY NORMAL ACTIVITIES?
Sutures are normally removed within four to five days after surgery. Most patients return to non-strenuous work seven to 10 days following surgery. Strenuous activities and alcohol consumption can be resumed at approximately three weeks after surgery. Swelling, bruising and soreness could take up to several weeks to dissipate.
